GENERAL
AUDITION INFORMATION
BE PREPARED TO SING, DANCE AND ACT
SINGING AUDITION: The first audition is usually a singing audition. Applicants should be prepared to sing two songs, one up-tempo and one ballad. Prepare songs that you feel comfortable singing. Choose a song in a musical theatre style, preferably in the style of the musical for which you are auditioning. Stay away from singing pop songs. We will provide an accompanist, so please bring sheet music. You may also sing to a CD or you may sing a cappella, if you prefer.
DANCE AUDITIONS: Dance auditions usually take place at the callback. Applicants should be prepared to follow the choreographer in a dance routine that he/she will demonstrate. Please wear appropriate dance attire.
ACTING AUDITIONS: Acting auditions usually take place at the callback. Applicants may be asked to read for a specific role, or a variety of roles. The script is usually available before the callback so actors can prepare. However, actors should be prepared to do a “cold read”, if requested.
TIME COMMITMENT: Once an actor is cast in a show, they should be prepared for roughly three weeks of rehearsal time. You must be available for all rehearsals, although you may not be called to every rehearsal. Shows usually run for three to four weeks and actors must be available for all show times. Rainbow Stage thanks you for your interest and enthusiasm. Please be aware that there are only so many roles to fill. Only those applicants requested for a callback audition will be contacted.
