Scholarships
Rainbow Stage is offering monetary awards in the form of Individual Scholarships to students who are continuing their education in the field of the performing arts. The scholarship is designed for students who are highly recommended by the teaching staff of their school’s theatre and/or music program. The successful applicant has demonstrated a high level of skill and commitment as well as a great appreciation for the field of the performing arts.
Scholarships will be awarded to Senior 4 students who will be enrolling in a musical theatre or like program recognized by Rainbow Stage.
Three categories will be considered and individuals evaluated are as follows:
Performance: Singers, Dancers, Actors and others.
Technical/Production: Set Designers (properties, carpentry and paint), Lighting and Sound Design, Stage Management/Production and Wig, Hair and Makeup Design.
Musicians: Instrumentalists, Composers and Lyricists.
There will be a maximum of six individual scholarships awarded by Rainbow Stage. Each scholarship will be valued up to $500. Successful applicants will be eligible to receive one scholarship only and the scholarship must be used within one calendar year of the date awarded.
Rainbow Stage will reimburse the scholarship amount directly to the successful recipient upon receipt of proof of tuition payment. Applications must be submitted to Rainbow Stage by May 1, 2010. The successful applicant will be contacted by mail and will be presented with their award on August 5, 2010 at Rainbow Stage in Kildonan Park.
Rainbow Stage reserves the right to interview the scholarship applicants.

School Awards
Rainbow Stage will annually present up to three school performance awards in Musical Theatre, to a maximum of $1000 each to high schools in Manitoba.
a) The production must be a “book show” i.e. established or newly written. Musical Revues, Variety Shows or Theatrical Review format will not be considered for the Rainbow Stage School Performance Award.
b) Application for consideration for School Performance Awards must be made at least one month prior to the staging of the production.
c) Applicant schools are to provide complimentary tickets to the production to the Rainbow Stage adjudicators.
d) The panel’s choice of award winners is final.
e) The shows will be critiqued on: Presentation(Cast, Orchestra and Crew) Sets, Costumes and Lighting Design, Music and Choir Direction and Direction Presentation
